Frequently Asked Questions

How do I send my breastmilk and how much milk is needed?

You will send half an ounce of breastmilk in breastmilk storage bags. It is best to triple or quadruple your bags to fully ensure it doesn't leak. Once the milk is triple bagged, you will send it in a regular or padded envelope. It does not matter that the milk stays frozen. No one will be drinking. The only purpose is to preserve the milk. More questions on this will be answered in your order confirmation email.

Can I send old and expired milk?

Absolutely! Again no one will be consuming it.

How do I know where and how to ship my milk?

You will received exact instructions on the confirmation page and in your confirmation email once an order has been placed.

I see you don't accept returns, understandable. What happens if something is wrong with our piece?

I am human and definitely make mistakes. If you are not satisfied with your piece, I am usually always willing to remake it! Just message me to discuss the problem and we can see what we can do to fix it!

Do the pieces turn color?

Sterling silver and plated-gold pieces will likely tarnish over time (a dark film appears in places). This is because of a reaction with compound sulfurs in the air. There is a trick to cleaning tarnish! (See our Instagram highlight bubble "Cleaning") If you are concerned with this, solid 14k gold is the way to go as these will not tarnish!

What do you do with leftover milk?

All received milk will be preserved into a fine powder and can be used for up to five orders. I will then use the appropriate amount of powder to create your order. Any powder that is leftover will be stored in an airtight container. I will keep your leftovers stored for future orders, meaning you will not need to send another shipment of milk!

How long is the process from ordering to receiving?

I would recommend ordering at least 10 weeks ahead of when you want to receive. During the holiday season our turnaround time could be up to 14 weeks.

Can I order non-breastmilk items?

Absolutely! We also specialize in ashes and materials such as hospital hats, blankets, clothing, etc... If ordering non-breastmilk items, please specify in the required box for additions. If you are very specific on what you are wanting, send us an email or DM @milkandmemory on Instagram!

Can I create my own style?

Of course! We take custom orders! Message us with what you are wanting and we can draw it up for you!

Where do you ship?

Our website is set up to take orders in the US, Canada, Australia, Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, and the UK, however, we can ship worldwide! Because some countries have much stricter policies, it may be hard to ship milk from these locations. We don't want you to pay until we know you can ship your milk. If you would like to order contact us here (Contact), or DM us on all socials @milkandmemory!

I am not in the US how much is shipping and will I have to pay duty upon arrival?

Non-insured shipping to Canada is $28 USD and overseas is $48. This does NOT include insurance. For this shipping price, you will not have to pay a duty when it arrives. This works fine for sterling silver/plated gold pieces. If it happens to get lost, we can remake for $30 - $70 USD, which is hopefully not the scenario that plays out. You can use this shipping rate for solid gold pieces as well but remember, it WILL NOT be insured. You will have to repay full cost for it to be remade. If you are interested in a solid gold piece, we recommend purchasing insured shipping in case it does get lost. That way we are able to remake at the expense of the postal carrier. This will cost $75 but you WILL likely have to pay a duty when it arrives (fees vary depending on location).
